Introduction

While writing my introduction  I   realized  that it was much harder than what  I  thought  it was  going to be .  But it helped me learn how to better engage the reader  from the start. My writing  process  started with look ing  at my outline that  I   previously  made  to help g u ide me   through  writing  the  essay, after  that  I  wrote a rough draft without wor rying about absolute perfection , and then  I  revised it to improve the clarity and flow of my writing . Outline

  While writing this outline for my  essay,   I   realized  how important  organization  is  when it  comes  to starting a research paper. At  first,   I  started to writ e   mainly on   the historical  changes in aviation technology, but while working on this I realized that  that my paper needed to connect those changes to how American  society viewed military pilots over time.  This helped me improve my thesis and my background section so that they  focused more on  society's  understanding  rather than just technology. One  specific thing that  I  learned  was how useful topic sentences are for  guiding each body paragraph .
